Training Expands South
Training in agribusiness begins in Minembwe - the rural highlands of East Congo. Ongoing violence in that region made travel unsafe for students, so our Congolese grantee, New Hope Reconciliation Center, is bringing opportunities to Minembwe! Students now can receive training both at the school in Kavumu and the community center in Minembwe - all under the direction of New Hope Academy.
Forty-five young men and women from various tribes begin classes this month. Thirty will train in masonry or plumbing near Bukavu and 15 will attend agribusiness training in Minembwe. This more than doubles the number of students. Thanks to donors like you, the second floor and roof are finished at New Hope Academy.

Graduates Take Skills to Workplace
Twenty recent graduates from New Hope Academy now make up four student cooperatives, two in tailoring and two in hospitality. These graduates are working with their startup kits, sewing machines or catering supplies, and receive weekly follow up inspections and technical guidance to support their ongoing businesses.
