New Hope Reconciliation Center (NHRC)
Congo Peace supports the work of New Hope Reconciliation Center (NHRC) - a team of committed Congolese leaders on the ground in DRC. Their approach is to bring the hostile tribes together to heal and reconcile so that they can live, learn, work, worship, and thrive in Christian community. Their team is made up of individuals from each of the tribes and led by Pastor Joseph Harera.
The NHRC team reaches out to local chiefs, pastors, and other community leaders to bring people together to hear God’s message of love and healing through forgiveness and reconciliation. Pastor Harera reports that “people are excited, as this is the first time anyone has approached them with a vision that treats all tribes the same and promotes acceptance and forgiveness between tribes.”
NHRC oversees a vibrant residential education program where young men and women learn skills to start a business and create a sustainable future. NHRC offers a weekly radio program that reaches over 45,000 people to educate them on social cohesion and opportunities to gather, worship, and thrive together. NHRC provides educational support to 50 orphaned children, and helps women and youth build coops for crops, livestock, and other business ventures to bring in income to help families survive.
NHRC is an independent Congolese organization that Congo Peace supports as a grantee. You can learn more about their work by visiting their website. Please note that you will be leaving the Congo Peace website.
